Why Choose Imresizer?

Fast, secure, and completely free image resizing

  • Edit all common EXIF fields

Update image description, artist name, copyright notice, software tag, and date/time fields — all standard EXIF fields supported by JPG format.

  • Set custom DPI

Set exact DPI (dots per inch) values for horizontal and vertical resolution. Choose between inch and centimeter as the resolution unit.

  • Privacy guaranteed

Your images never leave your device. All metadata editing happens locally in your browser using client-side JavaScript — nothing is uploaded.

  • Instant download

After editing, download your modified JPG immediately. The file retains full image quality — only the metadata is changed.

  • Preserve image quality

Metadata editing writes only the EXIF header — the image pixel data is never re-encoded or compressed, so quality is perfectly preserved.

  • 100% Free & no login required

Edit JPG metadata for free with no account needed. No subscriptions, no watermarks, no hidden limits.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about image resizing

What metadata fields can I edit?
You can edit: Image Description, Artist/Author, Copyright, Software, Date/Time, X Resolution (DPI), Y Resolution (DPI), and Resolution Unit (inch or centimeter). These are the most common EXIF fields in JPG files.
Does this work on PNG or WEBP files?
This tool is specifically for JPG/JPEG files. EXIF metadata writing with JPEG encoding is supported by piexifjs. PNG and WEBP use different metadata formats (tEXt chunks and XMP respectively) which require different tools.
Will editing metadata affect image quality?
No. Only the EXIF metadata header is modified — the actual image pixel data is never re-compressed or re-encoded. Your image retains its original quality.
How do I set the DPI of my image?
Enter your desired DPI value in the X Resolution and Y Resolution fields (typically the same value for both). Then select 'Inch' as the resolution unit for standard DPI measurement. 300 DPI is standard for print quality.
Is my image uploaded to a server?
No. All metadata editing happens entirely in your browser. Your image is never sent to any server, making it completely safe for confidential or private images.
What happens if I leave a field blank?
Blank fields are not written to the EXIF data, so any existing value for that field is preserved. To clear a field, check the 'Clear' option next to that field (if available) or leave it and it won't overwrite existing data.
Can I view the current metadata before editing?
Yes. The editor pre-fills existing metadata values from your image so you can see what's already set and decide what to change.
