How It Works

Step-by-step guide to india ssc photo size to exact specifications

Add Your Photo

Pick a clear, front-facing photo taken against a plain background in good light, with no cap, mask or glasses. Upload the JPG, PNG or WebP file from your phone or computer. Nothing is sent to a server.

Check the Print Size

The 3.5 x 4.5 cm size is already applied, so you only check the preview. If your photo has a different shape, pick a fit mode so your face stays in proportion and fills the frame.

Download and Print

Download the JPEG and print two copies at 100% scale, or take the file to a photo shop. Resizing happens on your device, so your photo stays private the whole time.

Why Choose Imresizer?

Fast, secure, and completely free image resizing

  • Passport Print Size Pre-Applied

The page opens with 3.5 x 4.5 cm already applied and the file set to JPEG. You don't type any numbers. Add your photo, check the preview, then download it ready to print.

  • Made for the Printed Photos

SSC notices ask you to carry two passport size recent colour photographs to the exam centre and to document verification. This tool prepares that print photo, not an online upload.

  • No Invented SSC Upload Size

Current SSC notices set no size or file limit for this photo, and 3.5 x 4.5 cm is a common passport print size. The old 20 to 50 KB rule comes from older notices, so this tool adds no KB cap.

  • Live Photo Rules in Mind

The online form captures your photo with the camera, so there's nothing to resize there. The notices ask for a plain background, good light, eye level, and no cap, mask or glasses. A print photo should follow the same look.

  • Four Fit Modes

If your photo is the wrong shape, pick Stretch image, Crop, Add Padding or Fill Frame. Crop or Fill Frame keeps your face in proportion and fills the frame.

  • Print-Ready at 300 DPI

The file is saved at 300 DPI, so a 3.5 x 4.5 cm print comes out sharp at a photo shop or on a home printer. Print it at 100% scale to keep the size exact.

  • Private and Free

All resizing runs in your browser, so your face never goes to a server. There's no signup, no watermark and no limit on how many times you try.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about image resizing

What is the SSC photo size?

Current SSC notices don't state one. The online form captures a live photo with your camera. For exam entry and document verification they ask for two passport size recent colour photographs, with no cm, pixel or KB limit. This tool gives you 3.5 x 4.5 cm, a common passport print size.

Do I need to upload a photo file on the SSC portal?

Not in the recent notices we checked. The Steno 2026, CAPF 2025, December 2025 and June 2026 notices say you don't need a pre-existing photograph. The application module captures one live with your camera, and a photo of an old photo is rejected.

How do I resize my photo for SSC?

Add your photo to this SSC photo resizer. The 3.5 x 4.5 cm size is already applied, so check the preview and download the JPEG. Print two copies to carry with you. Use it only for the printed photos, since the online photo is taken live.

Why does this page not say 20 to 50 KB anymore?

The 3.5 x 4.5 cm, 20 to 50 KB JPEG rule comes from older SSC notices, such as the 2022 CHSL and 2023 MTS notices. The current notices have no photo upload spec, so we removed the KB cap instead of showing a rule SSC no longer states.

What does SSC ask for at the exam centre?

If you didn't complete Aadhaar authentication, the notices say you must carry at least two passport size recent colour photographs and an original valid photo ID. The Steno 2026 notice states this in para 16.7. Check your own admit card for the exact list.

How many photos do I need for SSC document verification?

The Steno 2026 notice (para 17.3) and the CAPF 2025 notice (para 15.2) both say to bring two passport size recent colour photographs and one original photo ID. Your own notice and admit card are the final word, so read them before you print.

Is 3.5 x 4.5 cm the official SSC passport photo size?

No. SSC notices say only "passport size" and give no measurement. 3.5 x 4.5 cm is a common passport print size in India, so it's a safe choice, but it isn't an SSC rule. If your admit card or notice names another size, use that one.

What are the SSC live photo rules?

The notices ask you to find a place with good light and a plain background, keep the camera at eye level, look straight ahead with your face inside the red rectangle, and wear no cap, mask or glasses. Don't capture a photo of a photo, or the application is rejected.

How recent must the photo be for SSC?

The notices say "recent" and give no number of months. Use a photo taken lately that looks like you on exam day. SSC also says your appearance on exam day should match the photo in your application, so avoid old pictures.

My photo is the wrong shape. Which fit mode should I pick?

There are four. Stretch image is the default and distorts the photo to force-fit the frame. Crop keeps proportions and cuts off whatever falls outside. Add Padding keeps the whole photo and fills leftover space with colored bars. Fill Frame scales the image up to cover the frame and trims the overflow. For a face, Crop or Fill Frame works best because nothing gets stretched.

Are my files uploaded to a server when I use this tool?

No. Resizing runs in your browser, so your photo stays on your phone or computer. Nothing is stored and nothing is sent anywhere. That matters for a photo you use to identify yourself.

Is this SSC photo resizer free, and does it work on a phone?

It's free, with no signup and no watermark. It works in a phone browser too, so you can resize a photo from your camera roll, then print it at a shop without a computer.
